Annika Belshaw , Steamboat Springs, COFly Girl

I am 12 years old and I live in Steamboat Springs, CO. I was 9 years old when I started ski jumping, and ever since then, I have loved the sport. I was first introduced to ski jumping when I participated in Steamboat’s Wednesday Night Jump on alpine skis. There were other kids jumping on jump skis, and that’s when I decided I needed to start ski jumping!

I like the feeling of flying through the air and jumping new jumps. Flying feels a lot like floating, but on air. When you get to compete on different hills around the country, you have the opportunity of meeting new people and becoming better at jumping by trying out all the different jumps.

Sometimes people ask me if jumping is scary. Jumping a brand new jump can be scary, but it doesn’t deter me, because I know that once I jump, it will be so fun, I will want to go right up and jump it again. Just this past year I had my biggest accomplishment yet. I got second place at Junior Nationals. Now that women are allowed to jump in the Olympics, I have an even higher goal to try for.

    Fundraising for Fly Girls Camp!

I have been selected to take part in the 2015 Fly Girls Camp and Program, hosted by Women’s Ski Jumping USA. This is an invitation camp for the top U.S. juniors. The cost of the 5-week-long camp is $2,000 and WSJ-USA is matching up to $1,000 of what I raise on this RallyMe campaign.

With the help of this camp, and you, I can become much closer to my dreams.

Thank you for your support and check out the cool swag we have to offer as a gift for your support. No amount is too small!
