Gabby Armstrong, Lake Placid, NYFly Girl

I am a rising junior at Lake Placid High School in Lake Placid, NY. I took my first ski jump when I was 10 years old and have been flying ever since. What’s not to like about jumping off a ramp at high speeds and flying through the air?  I can’t think of anything better, except maybe jumping a bigger ski jump.

After a successful 2013-2014 season, I was selected to attend the inaugural Fly Girls Camp, which affirmed my determination to compete at higher levels. I left Fly Girls Camp with lifelong friends and some of my first k-90 jumps, ready for another winter season.

The highlight of my 2014-2015 season was competing at my second Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Junior Nationals where I also jumped my first big hill (the k-114 in Steamboat Springs, CO).  On this hill I flew my personal best of 96 meters.

I am very excited to have been selected again for this year’s Fly Girls Camp where I hope to fly even farther! it is hosted by Women’s Ski Jumping USA. This is an invitation camp for the top U.S. juniors. The cost of the 5-week-long camp is $2,000 and WSJ-USA is matching up to $1,000 of what I raise on this RallyMe campaign.
